How do I use a Baby Bjorn Harmony Carrier? Full tutorials for carrying front inwards, front outwards and back carry.

The Harmony is Baby Bjorn's flagship carrier, offering the security of an internal harness that allows you to fit and adjust the carrier completely for adult first and then load baby in with all the clips securing baby at the front. The carrier also adjusts to fit babies from around 4 weeks to roughly 18 months of age and it offers 3 carrying positions (front inwards, front outwards and back).  But how do you adjust it and how do you do each of these postions? Here is how to....

Front Carry with a Newborn and how to adjust as baby grows (right through to toddler):

You can carry your baby on your front like this right from newborn, as soon as you can get a comfortable fit for them and then this position continues being brilliant as they grow. Here I go through in depth the set up for you the wearer and for baby and all the small adjustments and tweaks you can make to get a fabulous fit for you both.

Outwards facing carry:

Once baby is developmentally ready (more on how to work out when this is here), you can use this carrier to face baby outwards as shown. The key things to remember are to use the zips to give space to the legs and prevent baby being over stretched and to fold down the neck support, again to give them space at their airway! Note that you don't ever have to do this position - some babies absolutely love it and some really don't! So be guided by what feels right for you and your little one.

Back carry:

Once baby is able to sit independently, in theory you can start back carrying. Although in practise baby's often don't enjoy being carried on the back until they can see over your shoulder and as this is quite a long carrier often that is slightly later than some other carriers. So typically around 1 year or so. I will also confess I do find the need to put this carrier on entirely on the front and then take your arms out and squiggle round a bit of a faff! It is really great if you are feeling nervous as there is no way to accidently drop your baby but equally I find alot of parents move onto something that is less faffy and you are less likely to accidently elbow your child in the face (as I did once accidently in this video with the Baby Bjorn One carrier).
