Description
Key Features
- Weight tested from 3.2 kg (7 lb) to 9 kg (19.8 lbs)
- Made from soft 95% Cotton 5% Elastane Jersey fabric
- Designed to be just like a T-shirt. You slip it on, then slip baby inside. Like a T-shirt it is important to have the correct size for your body. This one is a M/L (see sizing graphic) which fits me as someone who fluctuates between a size 12 and 16 absolutely perfectly.
- Realistically works right from day 1 for pretty much all newborns. For lower birth weight or those born prematurely it can be hit or miss depending on how snugly the carrier fits the parent. For this reason I usually suggest the Caboo Lite or Koala Babycare carrier as safer bets.
- Supportive enough that will continue to work for as long as you and baby want to continue using it. Babies tend to grow out of carrier developmentally rather than physically, typically somewhere between 3-6 months, although this varies a lot baby to baby. This carrier will continue physically fitting most babies to around 9 months.
- Little ties at shoulders make narrowing the straps to ensure space at babies face a doddle.
- Perfect as a skin to skin top as maintains modesty while having baby right against you. Although worth being aware that modesty won't be maintained while taking baby in and out of the top.
- Compared to other skin to skin tops, the Najell does give a supportive hands free carry which means you can move around like normal and use this as a proper carrier.
The Najell Wrap is fab for anyone who wants a Skin to Skin top that also functions as a proper hands free baby carrier. Designed to provide all the modesty of a skin to skin top, while holding baby just as securely as a stretchy wrap. However, the downside is that like all tops it is really important to have the right size. I have the M/L size as this is the size that fits me, but I don't currently have all sizes and I honesty struggle to recommend a sized carrier because it makes sharing between partners of different sizes and shapes difficult. Compared to other sized carriers, I would say the Najell has the advantage of each of their sizes actually fitting a fair range quite well. I.e. I've seen other carriers where alot of people find one size too small, but the next size up is too big. This doesn't seem to be the case with the Najell, genuinely each size does fit a range of people with a little overlap in sizes such that anyone at the borders can realistically wear either. However, I just still find I would always recommend a product that can be sized to you exactly and that anyone can wear over something where its important to have the right size. As such I will never recommend this carrier over either Close Parent Caboo Lite or Koala Babycare carrier.. which give an almost identical carry to the Najell but can be sized to fit anyone from the super petite to plus sized, meaning parents of very different shapes and sizes can share the same carrier. But that said, I do have clients where only they will be wearing the carrier and they prefer the aesthetic. Which I would say is the one and only true advantage of this carrier.
If you happen to be a similar size to me, you are welcome to hire it and see how it works for you! Available both to try for 2 weeks, 4 weeks or to hire for 12 weeks to cover the whole 4th trimester - saving both the planet and your wallet from bying something new that you'll only need for a few months.
